Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Australia’s Federation, this exhibition marks the time when Sydney transformed itself from a sleepy Victorian backwater to the brash and breezy 20th-century city it is now. Photographs, film footage and interactive panoramas of the Sydney cityscape as it was then are contrasted with today’s glass and concrete skyline. A chance to immerse yourself in a quieter, gentler period.

If you want to make Sunday a lazy, laid back day, try the new Brunch at Caffè la Torre located on the river in the extreme west of the Oltrano. Between 12.30 and 3pm, you can pig out on the generous buffet to the accompaniment of live music -usually jazz, blues, R&B. Traditional brunch fare (pancakes, pastries, coffee, juice) is on offer alongside more substantial dishes such as pastas, roast beef, risottos, salads and home made desserts.

Heard much Utah jazz lately? Of course you haven’t – Salt Lake City simply bought the team years ago from New Orleans, where its moniker actually made sense. They may be short on be bop credentials, but Karl ‘The Mailman’ Malone and John Stockton have the skills to punish the hapless Knicks on home court. The Jazz may not be quite the team that gave the Bulls a run for their money two years ago, but the Ewing-less Knicks are floundering. And Marcus Camby looks no match under the hoop for The Mailman.
