When the Wu-Tang Clan appeared in 1993, the release of their début album ‘Enter the 36 Chambers’ sent shock waves throughout the hip hop community. With their sparse, dark funk and bracingly violent martial arts imagery, the group immediately attracted a following. However, the band self-destructed within a year of their record’s release, with rappers Method Man and Ol’ Dirty Bastard going onto solo success in their own rights. This come-back gig should be a mind-blower.

Rome’s youth choir celebrate their patron saint with a little help from Janácek, a modern master who knew a thing or two about sacred choral music. The Santa Cecilia Youth Choir led by Martino Faggiani performs Janácek’s Mass in B flat minor, accompanied by organist Concezio Panone. Few things could be more pleasant than a free, mid-morning concert in one of Rome’s most OTT Baroque churches. Before the event, be sure to take a peek at the Rococo exuberance of the stucco-laden Santa Cecilia chapel to the right of the main altar.

No, not a 1970s soft-porn film but a rather esoteric exhibition devoted to the life and acquisitions of art patron Cassiano dal Pozzo. Dal Pozzo – diplomat, naturalist and man of letters – was also the potent protector of Nicholas Poussin and Pietro da Cortona. This show, divided into various thematically-linked sections, comprises not only works of art by Bernini, Domenichino, Sacchi and Poussin, but also contemporary documents and manuscripts. Together, they reflect the tastes of the individual collector and recreate the artistic and scientific climate in 17th-century Rome.

Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts is currently exhibiting ‘Reflexion’, an installation created by contemporary French artist Christina Boltanski that addresses the power of memory and concept of identity through simple materials like mirrors and second-hand photos printed on fabric. To go accompany the show, the Museum’s is screening an evening of films about Boltanski. ‘Christian Boltanski’ by Gerald Fox centres around an interview with the artist and features footage of him at work, while ‘Christian Boltanski: Portrait’ by Brigitte Cornand follows the artist on a lecture tour of Germany.

Fans will be gassed when Fuel brings their modern rock-radio friendly brand of music to the Fillmore. On the heels of their successful 1998 début album ‘Sunburn’, the band is touring again with a new album under their belt called ‘Something Like Human’. This time out, the Pennsylvania-based group mine the depths of alterna-rock skilfully if not shamelessly. Yet the heavily influenced result (sounding at turns like everyone from Pearl Jam to Live to Tool) still manages to carve out a bit of signature sound. Refreshingly the songs manage to stay away from the typically mindless digressions of life’s little miseries. It’s mostly a lot of fun, guitar-driven sound. Nickelback and Full Devil Jacket open the show.

Only at a benefit performance could a pop trio of such diversity land on the same stage. The Tiger Woods Foundation supports many children’s charities and, unlike Andre Agassi’s benefit shows, the nod here is given to the kids with the line-up and ticket prices as low as $20. Coming together are sexy ‘blonde’ Latina Aguilera, teen country-pop singer LeAnn Rimes and (at 37 years old, the ancient statesman of this affair) adult contemporary vocalist Seal. Celebrity guests are also expected, so oil those leather pants and get sexy with the rest.

A mecca of the media power lunch, your food is served Chinese-style on large communal platters. Don’t let that deter you – the China Grill remains a hub of media maneuvering, and what better way to sweeten the deal than with its delectable pan-Asian fusion offerings. Among the starters the duck pancakes are delectable and the calamari salad quite remarkable, while the Sichuan beef under crispy noodles shouldn’t be missed among the entrees. Deserts are back in fashion in Manhattan, these days, so don’t be shy about tucking into that key lime meringue pie or the seductive chocolate fudge cake.

Real Madrid-Celta clashes have become something of a classic as the visitors have earned themselves the reputation of being Spain’s most attractive side in the last couple of seasons. Both teams are currently riding high, Madrid in Champions’ League positions and Celta, only one point behind, just outside the UEFA zone. Real’s is somewhat off colour of late. Celta’s firepower, from Brazilian Catanha and Russians Mostovoi and Karpin, could make them good for a point although a home win is more likely.
